National Park Week kicks off tomorrow, April 21, and to celebrate, the nation’s 397 national parks are offering free admission through April 29. We thought we’d get in on the fun too, so we’re celebrating with a National Park Photo Contest.

Simply post your best photo taken in any national park around the West on our Facebook page (don’t forget to include a quick caption telling us where you took the pic) and we’ll choose a winner on Monday, April 30. The winning photo will be featured on the ML blog, and the winning photographer will receive a free one-year subscription to Mountain Living!

For the past few months, we’ve been playing a little Friday afternoon game on the ML Facebook page called “Name That Mountain.” It’s become so popular that we thought we should bring the fun over to the blog, too!

Every Friday, we’ll post the mystery mountain image here on the blog and on Facebook. You’ll have until Monday morning to post your best guess in the comments section below.

Here we go! This week’s mountain is…

Can you name that mountain? Have a great weekend, and we’ll be back on Monday with the answer.

Today we’re doing some mountain home “shopping” for our July issue’s real estate section, and we’re having a difficult time narrowing down our options. Which of these cozy cabins in the woods would you choose?

Colorado is famous for its 14,000-foot peaks, and while many folks aspire to hike one (or all of them), few actually do. If summiting a 14′er is on your bucket list, this cool new travel package is for you:

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek

This summer, The Park Hyatt Beaver Creek is offering the Summit @The Park Package, designed to help you work your way up to hiking a Colorado 14’er—and relax in style at the luxe Park Hyatt Beaver Creek.

The package includes five nights of lodging and three days of spectacular hiking led by Nate Goldberg, founder of the Beaver Creek Hiking Center. You’ll start out with two local hikes to get acclimated before taking on the ultimate challenge: a Colorado 14′er.

Here’s where the luxury comes in: You’ll start each day of adventure with a delicious (included) breakfast, you’ll get decked out in specialty socks and a hat (boots and hiking poles will be available for rent), you’ll be transported right to the trail heads, and you’ll refuel with gourmet picnics served during the hikes.

And when you’re done hiking, you can soothe those sore muscles with two spa treatments at the Park Hyatt’s gorgeous Allegria Spa. (We recommend arriving early to enjoy the Aqua Sanitas Water Sanctuary, a five-step self-guided series of pools, steam treatments and showers that will make you melt into one very happy puddle.)

Allegria Spa

The Summit @The Park package will be offered June 23-28, July 21-26, August 25-30, and September 22-27, 2012. Rates start at $1,900 per person based on double occupancy and are subject to availability. To learn more, or to book, call 970-949-1234 or visit http://beavercreek.hyatt.com.

There’s more than one reason why we love The Allison Inn & Spa in Newberg, Oregon. It may be the swankiest spot in the Willamette Valley, but make no mistake, the LEED Gold-certified resort is doing its part to be good to the earth. Want to experience it all yourself? Here’s what to expect:

THE LOOK: Eco-sleek, with an emphasis on the practical and timeless. On the inn’s exterior, mossy rock mixes with copper, glass and low-maintenance engineered wood. Inside, custom-crafted furnishings and fabrics in glowy hues of lichen, bark, berry and pear reflect the colors of neighboring vineyards and farmland.

ECO-ATTRIBUTES: Spa-inspired bathrooms are fitted with low-flow showerheads and faucets, plus high-efficiency toilets to reduce water use. To minimize energy consumption in unoccupied rooms, computerized controls deactivate the electricity and power-down heating or cooling when you check out.

ROOM TO REQUEST: All of the 85 rooms and suites have a gas fireplace, terrace or balcony with hillside or vineyard view, cozy window seat and artwork by local artisans. In each spa-style bathroom, a wall of frosted glass slides open to allow TV viewing from the large soaking tub.

TOP TASTES: At JORY Restaurant, chef Sunny Jin combines techniques honed at the French Laundry and El Bulli with produce from local growers—and the inn’s half-acre chef’s garden—to create menus that celebrate seasonality and flavors native to the Willamette Valley.

Want to go right now? Visit in April and enjoy the “Raindrops & Rainbows” package: deluxe accommodations, breakfast in bed, a candlelit bath, a bottle of Oregon pinot noir (and much more) from $357/night. Visit theallison.com to learn more.
