The devastation caused by the earthquake in Haiti has left millions of people in a moment of dire need, without homes or the basic necessities for survival.
Here at ML, we’re looking for ways to help, and we’re starting with something everyone can do: simply text “Haiti” to 90999 to send a $10 donation to the Red Cross. The money will be used to purchase goods in the country at a lower cost.
It’s disasters like this that bring giving to the forefront of our attention, but we’ve just discovered a stylish way to keep it top of mind every day. Designed by Juliska, the “Charity Piggy” is made in Portugal of the same stoneware used for all Juliska products (this little piggy is shown in the “Pewter Stoneware” finish).
Each bank costs $48, and Juliska will donate $8 per charity piggy sold between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010 (with a minimum donation of $50,000) to Save the Children to benefit children in need in the United States and around the world.
We plan to place one prominently in our homes and make donations large or small throughout the year. When the bank is full, we’ll send its contents to our charity of choice.
The piggy bank will be sold beginning in March at Neiman Marcus locations nationwide and on the Juliska website. For more information or to order (beginning in March), visit www.juliska.com
