The Grass is Greener

Are you looking for ways to eat more sustainably? Why not stock your freezer full of grass-fed beef from the Maytag Mountain Ranch in Salida, Colorado. Born and raised on the ranch, the cattle are allowed to roam and eat only grass–no hormones or antibiotics are used.

The beef is available in a quarter or half side. If you don’t have the freezer space, split an order with a friend. It also makes a great gift! The beef is usually available June through October, and you can pick it up at Maytag Mountain Ranch or at their processor in Colorado Springs. They occasionally deliver for additional fees.

Quarter side: weighs about 105 to 110 pounds, approximately $480, uses 3 to 4 cubic feet of freezer space

Half side: weighs about 215 pounds, approximately $965
