Vail chef Kelly Liken to Compete on “Iron Chef America” This Weekend

Love Food Network’s hit show “Iron Chef America” like we do? Then you’ll want to tune in this Sunday, May 9, to watch Vail-based chef Kelly Liken challenge the Iron Chef.Liken has earned a glowing reputation for her eponymous restaurant in Vail, Colorado, where she works with local farmers, ranchers, and artisan purveyors—many of whom grow or supply ingredients especially for the restaurant—to develop a menu that reflects Colorado’s seasonal bounty.

To celebrate her appearance on the show (and hopefully a win!) Liken is hosting a viewing party for friends and family at the restaurant, and will also be featuring a prix fixe “Iron Chef Tasting Menu,” offering fans of the show and diners a taste of the menu she prepared for the “Iron Chef America” battle. Each item on this special menu will be inspired by the dishes Liken created on the show, complete with the featured “secret ingredient.”

“It was a tremendous honor to be selected as a Kitchen Stadium contender,” Liken says. “It’s been one of my longtime dreams to compete on the show, and I hope our fans enjoy watching me battle it out!”

“Iron Chef America” is scheduled to air at 9 p.m. (EST) on Sunday, May 9, 2010. To book your spot at the prix fixe dinner, call 970-479-0175. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Restaurant Kelly Liken is located in the Gateway Building at 12 Vail Rd. at the entrance to Vail Village and is open for dinner seven nights a week from 6-10 p.m. Learn more at www.kellyliken.com
